Travel in a Post-Pandemic World

It’s no surprise that as COVID-19 spread across the globe, we stopped traveling. Borders were closed. Patrols at every post. Nobody in and nobody out; unless absolutely essential. For avid travelers, tourists and explorers – this posed a massive problem. How could one continue to explore the globe in a pandemic world? Truthfully, we couldn’t.

With restrictions beginning to loosen (we’re currently looking at Phase 2 in Ontario shortly as I write this), borders are again re-opening and people are wanting to once again explore the globe. But how does one do it safely in a post-pandemic world that’s still worried about transmission? Safely, of course.

* It’s expected that as things open again there will be a lot of road trips not too far from home to start.

* The new travel normal may look at a shift to vacation rentals over crowded hotels, driving over flying, and an increase in the use of travel insurance and Travel Agents.

But, road trips and vacation rentals will only sustain true travelers for a short while. For those souls eager to hop a flight, here’s the lowdown on what to expect:

  • Masks will be mandatory in airports and on airplanes. Expect to use one or not be permitted to board!

  • Expect Thermal Scanning machines and temperature checks at airports & hotel lobby’s.

  • Hotels will be spreading out their rooms. Unless you’re a family traveling together, expect adjacent rooms or even whole floors to yourself wherever possible.

  • Tour Groups will get smaller and more intimate with potential mandatory covid or temperature testing before joining them.

  • Mandatory 14-day quarantines may be required as you arrive in countries and again when returning home; plan accordingly.

Travel Agents will be supporting clients in negotiating covid policies and procedures. It is highly advised that everyone now utilize an Agent for travel local or abroad. Travel has changed with the world. We will embrace those changes and make sure that you, our clients, travel the globe – as safely as possible.

You can’t stop travel – but you can make it safer.
